Hosting of the 3rd 2024 AURI Academy
“Korea-Japan International Seminar” 

The Architecture and Urban Research Institute (AURI) hosted the “3rd 2024 AURI Academy Korea-Japan International Seminar” on Friday, March 15, at the Institute’s large conference room. This joint seminar, held under the theme of “Urban Formation Process and the Urban Landscape Management System,” was organized to exchange research findings and form networks between experts at the Asia Townscape Design Society and Kyushu University in Japan. 

Starting with opening remarks from Youngbum Reigh, President of AURI, the first presentation was given by Takeru Sakai (Professor, Kyushu University), the President of the Asia Townscape Design Society, on “Japan’s Urban Landscape Management System,” followed by a presentation on the “Formation Process of the Administrative City and the Urban Landscape of Sejong City” given by Doo-won Yoon, Team Leader of the KPA Administrative City Planning and Coordination Team. 

The presentations were followed by a lively discussion on urban landscape attended by Chirl Ho Youm, Vice President of AURI, Sangmin Lee, Senior Research Fellow at AURI, Kyungmi Sim, Research Fellow at AURI, Ki-young Baek (Professor, U1 University), Head of the KPA Administrative City Planning and Coordination Team, Dr. Seoung-Uk Han (former Researcher at the Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation), and Dong-gi Hong, Research Assistant at Kyushu University. Through these international exchanges, AURI aims to contribute to society by improving research quality and identifying new research fields.
